Project 366: Day 302
- Once in a while you get shown the light
I learned a valuable lesson this morning about why you should never put the car keys in the pocket of your raincoat while shooting in the Hoh Rainforest when I stashed my jacket in the trunk with my camera bag. In the instant after I pushed the trunk down I realized my mistake but it was to late.
During the three hours I spent waiting for AAA I played a little game I've been playing for most of my life when I have idle time where I try to see how many interesting compositions I can find within my immediate view. I had plenty of time and came up with many interesting ones, but this was my favorite.
As the technician arrived the clouds began to thin and beams of the most sublime light began to filter through the rainforest. I made this image shortly after I was able to open the trunk of the rental car to retrieve my cameras.
Although it surely sucked locking the keys in the car, I'm very happy with this image and I never would have made it if I hadn't. Luck can be a strange thing sometimes in landscape photography.
